The Microbiome

Recent studies have shown that the many bacteria that live on your skin, in your mouth, and in your intestines, can have a large effect on the progression of cancer and response to treatment. In the clinic, we are collecting bacteria from current melanoma patients to better understand how the microbiome correlates to the progression of the disease. On the laboratory side, we are looking at mouse models to complement this information, and help us learn how to use the data to better treat our patients.
